Introduction
Welcome to Make Money Move$. My goal is to give you insights to fill your money toolbelt, tools that helped me reach financial independence. I want you to achieve independence too, whatever that may look like for you. It may mean being able to pay next month’s bills or paying for that dream vacation in Hawaii. And at the end of each newsletter I will share one tip you can implement in your life today. Thank you for joining me on this journey.
“Money is the root of all evil.” “I’m just not good with money.” “Rich people are greedy.” And a million other sayings along these lines. Growing up we have all heard some version of these ideas about money. Perhaps we have even said them ourselves. Where did they come from? Our parents, society, experiences. These beliefs have been engrained in our minds. They shape how we view money and wealth.
A limiting belief about money such as “I’m not good with it” turns a buildable skill into a rigid identity. Thinking all rich people are greedy categorizes people into good or bad by how much money they have. Have you considered who you could be without these beliefs? The goals you would be able to achieve, the wildest dreams you could dream. Beliefs define the parameters of our mind. If you believe you’re not able to build wealth, money will not come your way. But consider reframing that thinking to “Currently I do not have the tools to manage money well, but I will build up the ability to do so.” Suddenly your mind is open to possibilities and will seek opportunities to grow that skill.
Having money does not define who you are. Money is simply a tool, a tool that gives you the freedom to enjoy life’s adventures and allows you to choose how to spend your time.
MMM tip: Say out loud “Money supports my freedom and choices in life.”
Until next week,
Dariene
